Support our efforts to make ESGE Days as GREEN as possible.

ESGE is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our event and every little step counts. Here are some “Calls to Action” for you to consider when planning your trip to Milan:
Choose train versus plane (or car): While we realise that it may not be feasible for all our delegates to reach the event via train, we encourage you to review the train connections and options before concluding your travel arrangements.
When travelling by plane, consider contributing to the offset programmes offered by the airlines
Choose public transport once in Milan: the conference venue is easily reachable by public transport and detailed information is provided below
Biking to Milan? Why not! Make the most of the Spring season to cross the Alps on bike – if you should be planning such a trip, please let us know. We would love to follow you and share your journey with all delegates.
Have you asked your colleagues or local industry representatives if they would like to share a car ride with you?

  • Please note that ESGE is currently in discussion with the main train providers in Italy and we hope to be able to announce special delegate rates on selected routes shortly. Please refer to this website for updates.

  • How to call a Cab

    • Dial + 39 028585, +39 026969, +39 024040 – the three radio taxi services in Milano, with English-language automatic and operator assistance. You’ll be sent a taxi usually within 10 minutes. During the Fashion Week, the Design Week and other major events the wait on the phone could be prolonged. Alternatively, you can use an app to get a cab, including FREENOW, appTaxi, InTaxi and itTaxi.

Costs of Taxi Rides from/to Milano Airports*

    • Malpensa Airport – Milano (anywhere) €114
    • Malpensa Airport – Rho Fiera Milano €94
    • Linate Airport – Rho Fiera Milano €68
    • Malpensa Airport – Linate Airport €128
    • Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport – Milano (anywhere) €128
    • Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport – Rho Fiera Milano €140
    • Malpensa Airport – Como (anywhere) €130
    • Malpensa Airport – Varese (anywhere) €80

*official regulated prices: passengers must not be charged more, if they don’t ask for specific paths or stops during the journey

    Taxis in Milano

    • Taxis in Milano are all white and mid-priced in comparison to other European cities (for instance, a taxi from Linate to Duomo costs around 20 euros). You can hail a cab on the street, although this is not customary: you usually call one with your smartphone or walk to the nearest taxi parking area of which there are several around the city. At Centrale Station, exit to the right of the platforms outside the station (where Malpensa buses leave) or to the left (where Orio al Serio buses leave); at Cadorna Station, taxis are also outside the station to the left (towards the Castle). You can reserve one on the phone (but not at airports, where you’ll just have to join the line outside which is usually short) for a fixed time and date, although this will cost you an extra, considering the time that a free cab needs to reach your position.
    • All cabs must accept credit or debit cards for payment and give you a receipt for expenses if you ask for one. Tipping is expected only for very good service but it’s not mandatory.
    • In Milano there are about 5,500 cab drivers authorized by the Municipality of Milano to carry passengers around the city and to its three airports (MXP Malpensa, LIN Linate, BGY Bergamo Orio al Serio). To all taxis and taxi companies the same rates and rules apply. The service is provided all across the Lombardy Region (so that you can take a cab from Milano to, say, Lake Como, although this would cost you around 200 euros). There has been somewhat of a dearth of taxis in Milano lately, and the Municipality has issued hundreds of new licenses to deal with the problem. Uber is not a valid alternative in Milano, as it’s not allowed to operate along normal taxis according to Italian law. There is a loophole, though, as NCC drivers (meaning renting a driver with their vehicle) are allowed, and this is the only way Uber Black and many individual operators can take passengers to destinations for an agreed fee, provided they call the NCC driver in advance. Many organizations resort to NCC drivers to shuttle employees and delegates around events and hotels in Milano.
