Session Descriptions

Guideline Sessions

The guideline sessions form a core part of the educational offering at ESGE Days 2022. Covering all endoscopic procedures, these sessions combine evidence-based knowledge (ESGE guidelines review) and practical tips and tricks for everyday use. The ESGE guideline sessions will be presented and discussed by renowned panels of experts.

Postgraduate Course

This series of special educational sessions, dedicated to practicing professionals, will be available at all times, on the digital platform. Here participants may enhance their training in a specific field and/or further their general knowledge.

Live Demonstration

An important teaching tool, and the highlight of the 'Days' for many, these offer insight into how leaders in various fields approach both routine and complex scenarios. The audience will have the opportunity to pose questions via a chat function and discuss the cases. At ESGE Days 2022, we are honored to host 2 international centers, Prague and Rome, who will share their cases and expertise with us on Friday 29 April.

Live Free Paper Presentations

Our call for abstracts for ESGE Days 2022 will close on December 7, 2021. All submitted abstracts will then undergo a review process by our Scientific Committee. The very best of these abstracts will be presented in the Opening session with best abstracts. Onsite delegates will have the opportunity to discuss additional selected abstracts with the authors during a number of free paper presentations. Online delegates will have access to these recorded presentations and will also be able to send questions to authors via the chat function for a limited period. All in all, a unique opportunity to keep up with the latest research and developments in endoscopy.

Meet the Expert

New technology and hybrid concepts open up new avenues with which to interact and we will be making the most of the developments during ESGE Days 2022. Both onsite and online delegates will have direct access to experts to pose questions and hear “off the air” comments from specialists in a variety of fields. Watch this space!

Joint Sessions with Partnering Societies

ESGE warmly welcomes its Scientific Partnering Societies from around the world as active participants at ESGE Days 2022: A-PSDE, ASGE, CGS, EASL, ECCO, EGEUS, ESGENA, JGES, KSGE, SIED, SOBED, SSG and WEO. Our unmissable Joint Sessions have been curated to best showcase our rich international knowledge base of both endoscopic and disease related societies with vital topics covered including CRC, AI, bleeding and much more.

EYE Sessions

At the EYE (ESGE Young Endoscopists) sessions recently qualified colleagues and trainees can meet to learn from established experts. Sessions such as Clinical scenarios complicating endoscopy and All-in-one endoscopy: The edge of tomorrow are focused on career development and the relaxed, interactive atmosphere ensures a great platform to network. In addition, three Zoom sessions will take place that delegates can join from one of the Digital Workspaces in Prague, or via the digital platform. On Friday afternoon the Academic Skills Course provides an onsite only training opportunity, organised by the ESGE research committee and the EYE group.

Opening session and Presidential session

Join us to celebrate the opening of our congress and hear from the ESGE President, Past President and the Scientific Programme Co-Ordinator. The 4 Best Abstracts will be presented during this session plus other key successes from our awards programme honoured.

Don’t miss this year's Presidential Session which looks beyond medicine in an attempt to predict where endoscopy is headed. Alongside ESGE President Professor Helmut Messmann and President-Elect Professor Ian M. Gralnek, hear from experts in robotics, AI and environmental issues.

Our pitfall sessions are focused on common mistakes or difficulties that members of the endoscopy team may be confronted with. The topics we will be covering are ERCP/EUS and LGI/UGI.  Each of these sessions will have an emphasis on a practical approach to overcoming challenges.

Digital Poster Exhibition

All abstracts that are not selected for live presentation, but have been accepted for publication in Endoscopy, will be accessible for delegates via a digital poster exhibition. This is a searchable collection of the remaining posters in PowerPoint format. The posters can be searched via keywords and author name. Delegates will be able to send questions to authors via the chat function for a limited period.

Video Sessions

Here, the most renowned experts in the field present a new technology or procedure in detail, aided by videos. Each session will include video case presentations illustrating specific endoscopic techniques on topics such as UGI: Getting it right the first time - diagnostics and EUS: The role of extraluminal EUS. Live moderators will introduce the videos, as well interact with the audience and presenters.

The very best of our most exciting publications will be collated and presented in three highlights sessions on Friday. They are titled ERCP/EUS Highlights, LGI/UGI Highlights, and Landmark Papers in Endoscopy.

ESGENA Spring School

As always, ESGENA will be a vital part of ESGE Days 2022. As well as hosting two joint sessions, relevant for the whole endoscopy team, ESGENA will be offering the ESGENA Spring School. The Spring School gives nurses the opportunity to expand their knowledge in both endoscopy procedure and specialised patient care. The titles of the three Spring Sessions sessions will be released shortly.

Satellite Symposia

Without the generous support of our industry partners ESGE Days could not take place. A selection of our premium and major sponsors are hosting Satellite Symposia where participants can learn about the latest technological developments in endoscopy and engage with our corporate partners to discover what current research projects and studies they are involved in.

Czech/Slovak Day

After the success of ESGE Days 2019, which took place in Prague, ESGE is very happy to be back in this beautiful city and working closely with the CGS (Czech Society of Gastroenterology) and the SSG (Slovak Society of Gastroenterology). On Thursday, April 28 2022 these societies will host a series of 5 sessions in the local language specifically for local delegates. Session titles will be announced shortly.
