Session Descriptions

Video Sessions

In this session, experts in the field present an endoscopic procedure, diagnostic or therapeutic, aided by videos (for example: Optimizing detection for early gastric cancer, extraction of difficult biliary stones etc). The sessions include different procedures in the same theme, or variants of the same procedure.

Guideline Sessions

The guideline sessions form a central part of the educational offering at ESGE Days 2024, covering a broad range of endoscopic-centered themes which encompass the entire spectrum in terms of complexity.

Evidence based information, based on published ESGE guidelines, will be combined in a clinical case with practical tips and tricks for everyday use.

Case Sessions

In this session experts use case presentations to illustrate different aspects of a clinical problem (e.g. indetermined biliary strictures: three different cases underlining the role of cross-sectional imaging, tissue acquisition and cholangioscopy in providing diagnosis).

Highlights session

The highlights session underlines the novelties in the scientific literature representing the most recent developments from the last two years. The very best of our most exciting publications will be collated and presented in these sessions.

Live Free Paper Presentations

ESGE Days 2023 saw a record breaking abstract submission number that showcased the fantastic endoscopic science from our community. Onsite delegates will have the opportunity to discuss selected abstracts with the authors during a number of free paper sessions. This year we are also re-introducing the moderated Poster Tours for onsite submitters to showcase their research. Online delegates will have access to these recorded presentations and will also be able to send questions to authors via the chat function for a limited period. All in all, a unique opportunity to keep up with the latest research and developments in endoscopy.

New Postgraduate Course with meet the expert sessions

This series of special educational sessions, dedicated to practicing professionals, will be available at least two weeks prior to ESGE Days 2024 on the digital platform. We welcome delegates to browse and digest the presentations in advance. Once on site, attend the PGC meet the expert sessions, where the experts from the modules will present additional insights into their topic and take any questions to drive further learning.

Joint Sessions with Partnering Societies

ESGE warmly welcomes its Scientific Partnering Societies from around the world as active participants at ESGE Days 2024: A-PSDE, ASGE, DEGEA, DGVS, EASL, ECCO, EGEUS, ESGENA, JGES, SOBED, WIE and WEO. Our unmissable Joint Sessions have been curated to best showcase our rich international knowledge base of both endoscopic and disease related societies with vital topics covered including CRC, AI, bleeding and much more.

EYE Sessions

At the EYE (ESGE Young Endoscopists) sessions recently qualified colleagues and trainees can meet to learn from established experts. This year, the EYE group are joining forces with JUGA from the DGVS to present three sessions: 'Greatest hits vol. 1', 'When less is more', and 'Recipes for training in ERCP'. A relaxed, interactive atmosphere will ensure a great platform to network. On Saturday the Academic Skills Course and The Endoscopy Teachers Toolkit sessions provide an unmissable onsite only training opportunity with which to hone your skills as at teacher, researcher or author.

ESGE Presidential Jubilee Session

Don’t miss this year's special extended plenary session to mark the opening of ESGE Days 2024 and ESGE's 60th anniversary year. Hear from the ESGE President Professor Ian M Gralnek and the ESGE Scientific Committee Chair Professor Tomas Hucl. The 4 Best Abstracts will be presented during this session, followed by experts from around the world who will deliver state of the art presentations inspired by these hot abstract topics. We will also recognize and celebrate significant achievements from our award programmes. The detailed programme will be announced closer to ESGE Days 2024.

Satellite Symposia

Without the generous support of our industry partners ESGE Days could not take place. A selection of our premium and major sponsors are hosting Satellite Symposia where participants can learn about the latest technological developments in endoscopy and engage with our corporate partners to discover what current research projects and studies they are involved in.

ESGENA Spring School

As always, ESGENA will be a vital part of ESGE Days 2024. As well as hosting two joint sessions, relevant for the whole endoscopy team, ESGENA will be offering the ESGENA Spring School, which gives nurses the opportunity to expand their knowledge in both endoscopy procedure and specialized patient care. In addition, DEGEA will be presenting two joint Session: ‘PEG & Nutrition’ and “Endoscopic procedures - the role of an endoscopic nurse’.

Live Demonstration

An important teaching tool, and the highlight of the 'Days' for many, these sessions offer insight into how leaders in various fields approach both routine and complex scenarios. The audience will have the opportunity to pose questions via a chat function and discuss the cases. At ESGE Days 2024, we are honored to host at the Berlin centre. They will share their cases and expertise with us on Friday 26th April.

My worst case sessions

These new sessions are focused on common mistakes or difficulties that members of the endoscopy team may be confronted with. Each of these sessions will have an emphasis on a practical approach to prevent, identify and manage adverse events.

Tips and tricks session

These sessions are focused on the technical advice to successfully complete a procedure without adverse events (example: successfully using intraductal lithotripsy for biliary stones). In contrast to the guidelines session, which is based on published evidence and established recommendations, this session is based on explaining tips and tricks from experts, also drawing on their own personal experience.

DGVS Symposia

This year our local society DGVS will be hosting two symposia: Functional Endoscopy and Metabolic endoscopy. The programme will be led by Professor Hans-Dieter Allescher, chair of the DGVS Endoscopy Section for 2024, and will showcase prominent experts from our host country.
